Tips,Who do we tip?
Who doesn’t get a tip?
Have we trained a culture to ask for tips? Is everyone getting a tip now?
I am seeing it everywhere. For people, who take one step to get my food. I thought tips were for professional people who provide service like hairdressers, people who wash cars, waiters, waitresses, massage therapists, nail treat estheticians, barbers and valet.
But now, I see cashiers asking for tips. It is amazing. Are these people being paid less? Why is this on my receipt now? Is it because of COVID?
I want to understand this. If the expectation has changed, I want to know.
Are they being paid less with the expectation of receiving a tip? How are we to know?
I don’t mind tipping. I love tipping someone especially when someone has done a great job.
I tip regardless of service. I realized a long time ago that things happen.
The person could have had a bad customer before you or have personal problems. I don’t believe this person is taking it out on me or giving me bad service on purpose. I have had life happening to me on the job. I always tip over and beyond.
But I just want to know who to tip, why we are tipping everyone and when did this change.
The world has changed. I get that. Tipping people has as well. Tipping has become the norm and the expectation almost everywhere you go.
