While leaders ask a lot of questions of others throughout the day they also have to ask themselves a lot of questions to stay on track. Sitting with these questions will help keep us on track. Sometimes we are going around and around on a hamster wheel and don’t know how to get off. Answering questions helps give us clarity. Leaders have to ask themselves the tough questions on a regular basis.
- Am I selfish? Am I greedy?
- Am I honest? Do I always do what I say I will do?
- Do I have someone who will tell me when I am wrong?
- When was the last time I saw a doctor?
- Is my family a priority?
- Am I a good listener?
- Do I value people?
- How would my staff describe me?
- Do I get things done?
- Do my people avoid me or look forward to seeing me?
- Can my people tell me the truth? Can they tell me when they have made a mistake?
- If people are a reflection of you and they are, What are they reflecting?
- Are you mostly positive?
- Are you ignoring pain in your body?
- Are you sleeping 7 to 9 hours per day?
- What makes you upset? Sad?
- What do you want? What do you really want?
- Do I really care about my people?
- Do I dread going to work?
- When was the last time I took care of myself?
